The Mississippi State Legislature gaveled in Tuesday, January 2 for the first day of the new term. Members were joined by family and friends as they took the oath of office which was administered by Secretary of State Michael Watson. The House then elected Rep. Jason White as Speaker of the House, Rep. Manly Barton as Speaker Pro Tempore and Andrew Ketchings as House Clerk.

Welcome, Class of 2024!
The new members of the Mississippi House of Representatives gathered on Thursday, December 7 for New Member Orientation where they heard from House leadership and staff, as well as Lieutenant Governor Hosemann and lobbyists. The group was also given a tour of the Capitol and the House Chamber.
